    Introduction

    Introduction

    As per the Government Decision No. Sankirna-2012/Pr.No.72/Papu-07 dated 1st November 2012 of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, the Total Sanitation Campaign-TSC (Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan-NBA) under the control of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Panchayat) and the District Water and Sanitation Mission Cell (DWSM cell) under the control of the Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply were merged. Accordingly, the integrated cell was named District Water & Sanitation Mission Cell- DWSM Cell. After this, a separate cell was established at the Zilla Parishad level and the control of this cell was given to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Water and Sanitation) by creating a new post.

    There are a total of 7 branches functioning in this cell, including

    1. Sanitation Branch
    2. Water Quality Branch
    3. Information Education and Communication Branch
    4. Human Resource Development Branch
    5. Monitoring and Evaluation Branch
    6. Finance Branch
    7. Establishment Branch.

    Through all these branches, publicity, dissemination and training programs are organized on cleanliness, water quality, water conservation.

    Objective & Functions

    1. The important schemes of Central Government namely Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) and Jal Jeevan Mission are implemented at the village level through District Water and Sanitation Mission department.
    2. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), a centrally sponsored scheme, Rs.12,000/- per person toilet incentive subsidy is given to the eligible beneficiaries through this department. Also, public toilet construction and solid waste and liquid waste management projects are implemented at the village level.
    3. Jal Jeevan Mission, a centrally sponsored scheme, provides individual pipe connections to families without individual pipe connections.
    4. Trainings on various topics related to sanitation and public awareness activities are implemented through the department of District Water and Sanitation Mission,
