    FINANCE DEPARTMENT

    Introduction

    This is a very important department under the Zilla Parishad and it exercises financial control over the affairs of the Zilla Parishad. It maintains accounts of the actual receipts and expenditures of the Zilla Parishad, maintains the accounts of the provident fund of the Zilla Parishad employees, prepares and controls the retirement salary of the Zilla Parishad employees, prepares and controls the Zilla Parishad’s own income budget, and guides all the departments regarding financial propriety. The Chief Accounts and Finance Officer, who is the head of the department, mainly controls all these matters.

    Since this department is responsible for preparing the Zilla Parishad’s own income budget, this department controls the receipts and expenditures of the Zilla Parishad.

    Vision & Mission

    1. To supervise the financial affairs of the Zilla Parishad as prescribed under the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Committees Act 1961 and the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Committees Accounts Code 1968 as well as in accordance with the Government Decisions issued by the Government from time to time.
    2. To see the budget accounting and audit work of Zilla Parishad.

    Objectives & Functions

    1. Providing financial advice to Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer.
    2. Pre-provision verification, inspection and audit of disbursements and payments from the Head of Department.
    3. Compilation of Zilla Parishad accounts.
    4. To conduct internal audit of various departments of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti offices.
    5. To see that the Zilla Parishad has complied with the rules and orders in force in respect of all financial transactions.
    6. Compilation of grant returns and submission to Govt.
    7. Guiding Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer regarding G.P. investment.
    8. Provident fund keeping all accounts up-to-date settlement of cases.
    9. Settlement of retirement pay and family pension pay cases.
    10. Settlement of Government Group Insurance Final Cases.
    11. Settlement of Defined Contributory Pension Scheme / National Pension Scheme cases.
